MANILA, Philippines – Love anything MUJI? For admirers of the Japan-born lifestyle brand’s minimalist designs or hoarders of their simple yet high-quality household products, scratch off October 22 on your calendars.
MUJI’s very own graphic designer, curator, and board member, Kenya Hara, will be visiting the Philippines for the first time to talk to Filipinos during “EMPTINESS – The Design Philosophy of MUJI,” a 2-hour design talk happening at the De La Salle University Manila (DLSU) on Monday, October 22.
Hara will be taking his audience on an in-depth journey of how Mujirushi Ryohin (MUJI)’s history, design concept and his philosophy of “emptiness” helped make the globally-renowned, minimalist “no-brand brand” what it is today.
Hara has been Muji’s art director since 2002, which means he’s been behind the brand’s art direction, concept, advertisements, and design projects and exhibitions for 16 years now, with his work always deeply rooted in Japanese culture.
The design lecture will be at the Teresa Yuchengco Auditorium, De La Salle University, at 10AM on Monday, October 22, 2018.
