Pantone’s 2019 Color of the Year: ‘Living Coral’
What do you think about 'Living Coral', the orange-pink hue inspired by nature?

MANILA, Philippines – Under the sea is where inspiration was found for Pantone’s 20th Color of the Year, Living Coral.

Inspired by the color and vibrancy of rich marine life, Pantone describes this year’s chosen orange-pinkish hue “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energies and enlivens with a softer edge. Sociable and spirited, the engaging nature of Living Coral welcomes and encourages lighthearted activity. Symbolizing our innate need for optimism and joyful pursuits, Living Coral embodies our desire for playful expression.”

According to  People Magazine, the international color forecasting authority also shared the symbolism behind the bright yet warm shade of PANTONE 16-1546.

Just as coral reefs are a source of sustenance and shelter to sea life, vibrant yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment.”
