MANILA, Philippines – What do you do when a cat that’s endeared itself to an entire institution has to say goodbye? Throw it a “graduation,” of course.
Archer, one of the many resident cats at the De La Salle University-Manila, was given a “grand graduation” at the DLSU Genry Sy Grounds on Wednesday, March 27.
Archer, a 6-year-old tabby, had been the face of DLSU-PUSA (De La Salle University-Professors for the Upliftment for Society’s Animals), a volunteer group of teachers and students who take care of cats inside the school campus.
Archer was first known as “Security Cat” – an apt nickname since he’d often hang out at the school gate. Things haven’t been easy for Archer, however.
He was hospitalized for chronic kidney disease and a fatty liver. The DLSU-PUSA eventually decided it was time for Archer to find a forever home with Ate Jenny, a former security guard of the university.
During a ceremony that was open to the public, Archer got his official DLSU Alumni Lifetime membership card and donations both from brands and fans.
He also had a graduation photoshoot, of course.
