The country's best drivers are awarded in the presence of car enthusiasts and in a hall full of gorgeous vintage cars

MANILA, Philippines – The country’s best and fastest drivers stood up to be recognized at the 18th Annual Motorsports Awards on Friday, April 5 at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City.

Given by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP), the premiere organization of car and race enthusiasts, the awarding ceremony honored drivers who excelled in various races and car events in 2012 including circuit, karting, slalom, drag and hillclimb.

The ceremony was aptly held in a room full of gorgeous vintage cars, many of them racing cars.

Present were AAP board of directors and officers such as AAP President Augusto Lagman, Vice-President Juan Angeles, Treasurer Jacinto Magtaring, Director Dave Arcenas and Motorsports Committee Chairperson Armando Eduque.

For his welcoming remarks, Eduque happily announced that 2012 was a landmark year for AAP during which a record number of competition licenses were issued.

These licenses allow a driver to compete in race events sanctioned by AAP. Eduque announced that the growing number of issued licenses reflects the growing interest in motorsports in the country.
