Summer in the city at Resorts World Manila

MANILA, Philippines – While the rest of metro will be spreading out in all directions heading towards the country’s many sun-baked beaches and cool coastlines, for those who can’t stand the crowd and prefer to stay in the city, there are still many options to make sure your summer is still fun and wild — without the “getting wet” part.

1. What: Sundown Sounds

Where: Newport Mall Plaza, Resorts World Manila, Pasay City

When: April 15 to 30, 6pm

Why: We may have been more than 8,000 miles away from the famous Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California, but the 3-day music and arts festival may never hold a candle to our own homegrown musical acts in an amazing 15-day set of performances headlined by the best bands and artists.

Channel your own bohemian vibe with acts like Sandwich, Pupil, Up Dharma Down, Franco, The Itchyworms, The Dawn, Spongecola, Urbandub, Rocksteddy, Tanya Markova, Indio I, Tropical Depression, Kitchie Nadal, Moonstar 88, Join the Club, and many more.

2. What: Millionaires’ Month

Where: Resorts World Manila, Pasay City

When: Every Wednesday to Sunday of April, Bar 360, 7pm

Why: You may not be lucky at the slots or the black jack tables, but with Millionaires’ Month, you can still walk away a million pesos richer. As you earn points by playing on electronic table games and slots on the casino floor, you will earn a raffle ticket for every 60 points you accumulate.

There’s over P21 million pesos in prizes to be won, as well hotel promos from Resorts World Manila signature hotels Remington Hotel and Maxims Hotel.  

3. What: The King and I

Where: Newport Performing Arts Theater

When: Fridays (8 pm), Saturdays (2 pm and 7 pm), and Sundays (2 pm) of May 

Why: If its 5 Tony Awards for its original 1951 Broadway run and 5 Academy Awards for its 1966 film adaptation aren’t enough reason for you to catch it, the amazing cast will: internationally renowned theater actors Noni Buencamino and Bo Cerrudo alternate as King, and Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo and Shiela Valderrama alternate as the “Getting to Know You”-singing Anna.

If musical theater isn’t your cup of tea, you can also watch The Legends, Rock of 80’s, and the Goddesses of Belly Dance at Bar 360.

4. What: Food Buffets

Where: Resorts World Manila, Pasay City

When: Operating hours

Why: If you’re not going to flaunt your body at the beach, why deprive it of some much needed sustenance? Check out the Filipino-themed restaurant Mercado’s P188 buffet, and Cantonese fine dining restaurant Passion’s all-you-can-eat dimsum at P750.
