On fire: The Bench underwear fashion show
MANILA, Philippines - The audience at the annual Bench 2013 show last Sunday, May 26 held on to their seats in anticipation. The Filipino clothing brand is known for holding spectacular productions with runways dominated by celebrities from Bench's stable of endorsers.
Finally, the electric-blue lights flared to life. Smart phones were whipped out of pockets and purses. The models strutted down the catwalk in underwear ranging from neutral blacks to polka-dotted pink.
Filipino-Canadian supermodel Paolo Roldan walked out to cheers. The 6'2" Givenchy model strode down the runway clad only in tiny briefs. He was in good company with actress Jennylyn Mercado walking the runway in the sleek black lingerie of a forties femme fatale.
The underwear line was characterized by a premium on form and function. There may have been patent leather heels and and boots on the catwalk, but the underwear collection was in large part athletic in design, with the occasional sultry piece.
Other famous faces seen modeling were Borgy Manotoc, Ria Bolivar, Sam Ajdani, Pauline Prieto and the Semerad twins, Anthony and David.
