Pinay wins Miss Universe Canada 2013
MANILA, Philippines - Filipina Riza Santos will be representing Canada in the 2013 Miss Universe beauty pageant, after a correction significantly altered the pageant’s results, according to Beauties of Canada (BoC) Production
Denise Garrido of Bradford, Ontario was originally crowned Miss Universe Canada 2013 in the pageant held May 25, but results were deemed invalid the following day due to a typo seen during the validation of the computerized scoring.
“This is an unfortunate circumstance where a human error was made, and in such a situation, as difficult as it is, it is only right to correct the error... We would like to offer our sincere apology to Denise Garrido for this human error discovered while validating the results.” read a statement by BoC.
Garrido was then given the 3rd runner-up title, while Santos from Calgary was awarded the crown.
The final list of winners is as follows:
Miss Universe Canada 2013 Riza Santos (Calgary, AB)
1st runner-up Siera Bearchell (Moose Jaw, SK)
2nd runner-up Diana Martin (Mississauga, ON)
3rd runner-up Denise Garrido (Bradford, ON)
