Ilocos Norte offers a free summer getaway

MANILA, Philippines – Want a free but unforgettable summer adventure in Ilocos Norte? You still have 3 days to go before the March 31 deadline of the province’s online promo for a free summer getaway “barkada” package.

Try your luck by simply “liking” the “Paoay Kumakaway” Facebook page, posting a status on why Ilocos Norte is the hottest destination this summer, and sharing the page on your profile.

The winner, along with 5 friends, will get to see Ilocos Norte for 2 days and 3 nights and tour its beaches and heritage sites, and taste sumptuous Ilocano food. The package includes free air tickets, hotel accommodation, meals, tours and transfers, according to Ilocos Norte tourism officer Ian Ree Racquel.

“The promo is open to all except residents of Ilocos Norte and the period of submitting/posting entries in the page will run until March 31,” Raquel said in a statement.

“Paoay Kumakaway!” is part of the province’s new tourism brand, which hopes to promote Ilocos Norte’s tourism spots. But it’s not limited to the Paoay Church, a world heritage site, or its famous sand dunes.

“We are listed as one of the Top 10 Tourist Destinations in the country by the Department of Tourism and we aim to maintain our spot in the ranks. By launching the ‘Paoay Kumakaway!’ on TV and the setting up of new tourist and business centers, we hope to capture major investments and pave the way to make Ilocos Norte a tourism hub in the Philippines,” Gov Imee Marcos said in a statement. – Rappler.com
