MANILA, Philippines – Kate Upton has replaced Katie Holmes as the face of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics.

The brand known for emphasizing that makeup should enhance your best features (as opposed to simply covering your flaws) chose the 21 year-old model for her personal brand of youthful vitality – plus, who doesn’t envy that rosy, healthy complexion?

“Kate is appealing because she is a real woman who is confident in her own skin. She has a personality that people can connect with, and one that Bobbi connected with personally,” says Maureen Case, President of Bobbi Brown Cosmetics, as stated in the press release. “The Bobbi Brown brand celebrates ‘be who you are beauty’ in whatever form that takes, and we believe Kate is another iteration of what this brand is about… fresh, modern, classic and cool.”

The model is well known for her Sports Illustrated 2012 and 2013 swimsuit issue covers, which had the Internet all up in debate about whether or not the model is considered “fat” by industry standards.

But Upton has been candid and honest about comments on her appearance. “It was hard at first,” she told Vogue in her June 2013 cover story. “You sit there and you’re like ‘Is something wrong with me?’… The things that they’re rejecting are things that I can’t change. I can’t change my bra size. They’re natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can’t change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It’s what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great.”

In hindsight, that Vogue cover story may just have foreshadowed what was to come to fruition for the young model less than a year later. Having found herself in a unique position to bring a positive message to women today, she now seems to be seizing the opportunity.

I feel confident in my own skin, which is the brand’s mantra, and if together we can inspire other women to feel confident about themselves, then that’s a brand I want to be part of, and that is pretty powerful.says Kate of the Bobbi project.

The love appears mutual.

Kate represents the brand’s philosophy of “be who you are” beauty. She is comfortable in her own skin, has a healthy body image, has such positive energy, and is a woman who creates her own rules.  She loves life, and that is what my brand is about,” says founder and the brand’s Chief Creative Officer, Bobbi Brown.

According to the brand’s release, we’ll see the first campaign impages around July 2014 in the Bobbi Brown counters worldwide, while official ad campaign photos will appear in September issues of print magazines.
