MANILA, Philippines – Norma Liongoren, gallerist of Liongoren Gallery in Cubao and patron of the arts, died on Friday, August 26. She was 69 years old.

On Facebook, Norma’s son Erik confirmed the passing of his mother, who was battling stomach cancer.

“Farewell to you, our dearest mother.

“At around 2:15 am, Mama Norma Crisologo Liongoren was called back to headquarters to join The Master of All Master Painters. There’s a big curatorial job waiting for her.

“Its been a little over a year when she was operated for gastric carcinoma (stomach cancer). Although she beat the ‘BIG C’ and was said to be cancer free a few months back – the complications on her stomach caught up with her,” he said. 

 

Norma’s remains were brought to the Haven of Angels Memorial Chapels and Crematorium in Antipolo.

According to her profile on the the Liongoren website, Norma was also active in social research and an advocate of Philippine community development. She also founded the gallery, which bears the name of her husband Alfred, an abstractionist. 

She also volunteered for the National Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL) during the 1986 snap elections. – Rappler.com
