MANILA, Philippines -Singer Mark Bautista has been announced as a member of the production Here Lies Love, which is scheduled to go on stage this September. 

According to a report from The Daily Mail, Mark will join actress Natalie Mendoza, who will play the role of Imelda Marcos, while Dean John-Wilson is set to play the role of Ninoy Aquino. Gia Macuja Atchison will also be part of the cast, playing Estrella. 

Frances Mayli McCann and Li-Tong Hsu were also announced to be part of cast.

Broadway actress, superstar, and The Voice coach Lea Salonga was one of the first to congratulate the cast.

 

On his Instagram account, Mark posted a photo of the late president and Imelda, who is currently a congresswoman of Ilocos.

Rehearsals will start in August, with the first preview scheduled for September. 

Here Lies Love tells the story of First Lady Imelda Marcos, chronicling her time in power to her falling out of favor with the public during the end of the People Power revolution.  The play’s concept and lyrics is by David Byrne, who also worked on the music with Fatboy Slim, Tom Gandey, and J Pardo.  Choreography will be done by Annie-B Parson. The play was shown in New York last year, where a number of Filipino-American actors were part of the cast.
