Bretman Rock is releasing a Filipino-inspired collab with ColourPop
The collection drops on November 9

MANILA, Philippines – Bretman Rock is collaborating with ColourPop Cosmetics for a make-up collection that beauty fiends – especially Pinoys – will love.

Bretman, who was born in Ilocos, has always been proud of his Filipino heritage (he even donned a Darna costume for Halloween) – and it shows in his ColourPop collaboration.

The collection has two colorways: the blazing red and bright gold tones of “Lit,” and the cool blue shades of “Wet.” It’s a collection meant to represent Bretman’s masculine and feminine energy,  and if the colors look familiar, it’s because they were also inspired by the Philippine flag and Filipino culture.

Sharing photos of himself donning a flashy embellished terno and a classic barong with royal blue detail, Bretman said: “I poured my heart and soul into this project and I hope you guys love it as much as I do.”

“Collection is totally inspired by my heritage,” he added.

The 12-piece collection includes eyeshadow palettes ($12), lip bundles including a liner, a satin lip, and a gloss ($16), blushes ($8), and glitter pots ($8).

While the names of the shades are mostly internet expressions like “Or Whatevah,” or “LOL I’m crying,” one eyeshadow shade is called “Bading” – Bretman’s way of reclaiming a term sometimes used to attack gay men in the Philippines.

“This word can sometimes have a negative connotation, which it truly shouldn’t. I wanted to pay homage to this word and own it,” he told Refinery29. “What better way to do that than by including it as the name of a product.”

Clearly, a lot of heart and soul went into this collection, which only makes it all the more exciting.

It will be released on November 9. – Rappler.com
