[What I Ate] A huge cheeseburger that will make you ‘Call The Nurse’
The 'Call the Nurse' burger is made of 1/3-pound beef patty, Mac & Cheese, and honey sriracha bacon. There's even one called 'Call the ER.' Would you try it?

In What I Ate, Rappler features a memorable dish – perhaps a mind-boggling concoction, or just an exceptionally tasty meal that you have chanced upon or returned for several times.

We begin this series with our own experience. Paolo Abad from Rappler’s Life & Style section shares this extremely decadent take on a cheeseburger that he tried at Burgers & Brewskies.

Call The Nurse (P280), one of Burgers & Brewskies’ signature burgers, features a bizarre combination of ingredients, but at the same time, it’s oddly enticing that you don’t need to be a daredevil to give it a try.

I first heard about this by good ol’ word of mouth, and decided to head over to the Bonifacio Global City branch – then the only existing one. Just below the Rappler office, a branch had opened, and I decided to give it a try again months later.

The whole dish is a mound of artery-clogging food: a 1/3-pound US beef patty oozing with cheese sauce, a slab of seared Mac & Cheese – all finally crowned with honey sriracha bacon strips. Thus, it can really make you “call the nurse,” and it’s certainly something you shouldn’t eat too often.

It’s as packed with flavor as it is sinful – extremely cheesy with a hint of spiciness from the honey sriracha-glazed bacon.

Wash down the rich flavors with a cold mug of one of the restaurant’s selection of craft or imported beers.

Other options?

There’s a more dangerous option than the Call the Nurse, and it’s named Call the ER (P550) (emergency room), which doubles everything that’s in the former.

Where to get it?

The restaurant occasionally hosts stand up comedy shows, live music gigs, sports viewing parties, trivia nights, and the like.
