Three Philippine bars among Asia’s 50 Best Bars

MANILA, Philippines – Three Philippine bars have been deemed as among Asia’s best in a ranking curated by the region’s top mixology experts and most experienced members of the bar industry.

The Curator, a third-wave coffee shop by day and cocktail bar by night located in Makati’s upscale Legazpi Village, ranked #37 on the list. It was also voted the best bar in the country.

The Curator has been a consistent presence on the list, coming in at #16 in 2016, #23 in 2017, and #25 in 2018.

Oto, a small vinyl bar in Poblacion, Makati came in at #37, while The Back Room, a hidden bar at the Shangri-la hotel in Taguig, rounded out the list at #50.

Topping the list is The Old Man in Hong Kong, followed by Manhattan in Singapore and Indulge Experimental Bistro in Taipei. Two other Singapore bars, Native and Atlas, round out the top 5.

The 2019 Asia’s 50 Best Bars ranking, released on May 9, is the fourth edition of the list.

The ranking was based on votes from members of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars Academy, which includes drinks industry experts across 14 countries and dozens of cities across Asia.

Asia’s 50 Best Bars is the regional ranking under The World’s 50 Best Bars brand. The brand is owned and organized by William Reed Business Media, the same group behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and Asia’s Best 50 Restaurants ranking.

In late March, Toyo Eatery in Makati ranked #43 in the 2019 list of Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants. – Rappler.com
