Want to be a cadet pilot? Cebu Pacific gives you the chance

MANILA, Philippines – Looking to fulfill your cadet pilot dreams? Luckily, one of the country’s leading carriers, Cebu Pacific, is here to help, as it now opens applications for its 7th batch of cadet pilots, as announced on Friday, May 17.

Cebu Pacific’s “study now, pay later, zero-interest” study program will train 16 cadet pilots at the prestigious Flight Training Adelaide school (FTA) in Australia – no application fee included.

How does the application process go?

Applicants who pass the online pre-screening test will proceed to the next stages of the selection process – this includes interviews, computer aptitude tests, medical examinations, psychological tests, and spoken English tests. 

Afterwards, an on-site screening will be held for successful candidates, who will then pay a fee of AUS $425 (around P19,000) for further core skills and pilot aptitude tests. 

What are the qualifications to apply? 

Applicants must be Filipino citizens, proficient in English, and college graduates of any degree, as long as they graduated with an average grade of at least 80% in subjects related to math, physics, and English.

What is the initial cost of pilot training?

None. Cebu Pacific will shoulder the entire training cost of successful candidates, and will also ensure their employment in the carrier soon after. The cost of the program will then be reimbursed through monthly salary deductions over a maximum of 10 years, with zero interest. 

What is the mission behind this program?

The Cebu Pacific Cadet Pilot Program, a multi-million dollar initiative that hones aspiring cadet pilots, aims to provide a steady, reliable flow of highly-skilled, internationally-trained airline pilots over the next 5 years.

Darryl Dave Dituclan from Iligan City is part of Cebu Pacific’s pioneer batch, and will be on his way home from Adelaide training in June to assume First Officer position in the Philippines.

Darryl, whose parents are farmers and local government officials in Lanao del Norte, jumped at the chance to apply for the program.  “To those wanting to be pilots but are financially or otherwise constrained, take advantage of this opportunity offered by Cebu Pacific,” Darryl shares in a media statement.
