Preparing for the bar exam, according to Bb Pilipinas International 2019 Patch Magtanong
Becoming a lawyer is a long and often arduous journey. In the Philippines, you must first have an undergraduate degree, followed by 4 years of law school. After that comes an internship, the bar exam review, and the bar exam itself.
Reviewing for the bar can be daunting if you don't know where to start.
Here are some tips from newly-crowned Binibining Pilipinas International 2019 Bea Patricia "Patch" Magtanong, who was sworn in as a new lawyer recently.
1. Find the reading materials and resources you'll need. On her Instagram stories, Patch shared some of the reading materials and resources she used for her review. She also made it a point to list down her notes on index cards.

2. Know when to rest. In another post, Patch reminded followers that 8 hours of sleep is important.
"When I'm puyat, I'm not 100% and I'm not as productive. It's important to rest your mind too because bar review is exhausting," she said.
3. Any degree is a pre-law course. Patch, who graduated with a degree in Business Economics from the University of the Philippines, said she had classmates with different undergraduate degrees – from medicine to mathematics.
4. Have time for yourself and mental health. She also said that when she started reviewing for the bar last year, she made sure to take time off from all the readings and preparations. "I read 100 pages a day more or less depending on the density of the material," Patch said.
"There are good days and bad days, don't beat yourself up about not finishing your goal."
Patch was among 1,800 new lawyers who took their oaths at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Her law career will be put on hold, however. She is set to train for the Miss International pageant which will be held in Japan this November. — Rappler.com
