LOOK: Put pride in your stride with Adidas’ LGBTQ+ Pride Month release

MANILA, Philippines – Pride Month has officially begun, and Adidas is among those who are celebrating along with the LGBTQ+ community.

In time for Pride Month, the sportswear brand launched their Love Unites campaign, which includes the release of the Adidas Originals Pride Pack. The Pride Pack includes 3 sneaker designs: the Ozweego Pride (P6,500), the Nizza Pride (P4,000), and the Continental 80 Pride (P5,300).

Each design features the rainbow flag, which was created by San Francisco queer artist Gilbert Baker as a symbol of pride and empowerment for the queer community.

The sneakers are more than just a fashion statement too.

As part of the Love Unites campaign, the brand will be supporting The Trevor Project – a suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ youth – with a financial contribution.

June was declared Pride Month in the United States to commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising, when members of the LGBT community protested the June 28 police raid of the Stonewall Inn in New York City’s Greenwich Village. The event is considered to be one of the catalysts for the LGBT rights movement in the US.

The Philippines also celebrates Pride Month, which culminates in the Metro Manila Pride March – considered the oldest and largest pride march in the country and the region. This year’s Metro Manila Pride March will be held on June 29 in Marikina. – Rappler.com
