Globe Telecom's 0917 Lifestyle, Saga Events bring back StyleFestPH
[Editor's note: The search is on for young designer-entrepreneurs who will take part in the Designer Mentorship Program (DMP) and get a chance to walk the runway at this year's 2019 StyleFestPH. Below is their press release.]
MANILA, Philippines – This November, Globe Telecom’s lifestyle brand 0917 Lifestyle and Saga Events are bringing back the country’s 2018 premier fashion expo, StyleFestPH.
The 2019 StyleFestPH kicked off last June 24 with the search for aspiring young designer-entrepreneurs who will take part in the Designer Mentorship Program (DMP).
Leah De Guzman, head of 0917 Lifestyle, said that this year’s StyleFestPH will give Filipinos a full fashion experience by starting with the DMP which is a design and entrepreneurial program that aims to help create business opportunities for aspiring young designers.
“We want to teach participants about creative direction and business know-how in order to succeed, using digital platform opportunities and the help of retail industry experts who can assist and mentor aspiring designers with their design skills and how to go to market through the DMP,” De Guzman said.
Aspiring designers have until July 19, 2019 to submit their entries and design portfolio at the StyleFestPH home page at www.stylefest.ph. Only entries received from June 24 to July 19, 2019 through stylefest.ph will qualify.
Participants will be mentored and their works will be judged by a panel of experts called the “stylecouncil,” which will be composed of renowned local fashion icons and retail experts such as Inno Sotto; Paulo Campos, CEO of Zalora; Leah De Guzman, Globe Lifestyle head; and upcoming young designer Carl Jan Cruz.
The nationwide search is open to Filipinos 18 years old and above, either students or owners of their fashion design business.
To join, just visit www.stylefest.ph. Together with their completed application form, applicants should be able to present a design portfolio composed of at least 10 items that focus on two categories: Streetwear, which integrates fashion and technology, and Ready-To-Wear, either for day or night wear.
All application forms and design portfolios will be reviewed by the stylecouncil based on the following criteria: 25% each for Creativity and Originality, Overall Theme and Cohesiveness of the collection, Technical Construction and Craftsmanship, and Retail Marketability.
Out of all the submissions, 8 finalists will be given the chance to go on the runway where winners for 0917 Lifestyle and Zalora will be chosen. The stylecouncil will then deliberate and select the 16 Semifinalists on July 24, 2019 at the Globe Tower in Bonifacio Global City.
Judging of the StyleFestPH winners will happen during the finalists’ fashion show on November 5, 2019, with the winners announced at the end of the show.
Prizes include a P50,000 cash prize for the winners of 0917 Lifestyle and Zalora brands plus mentoring from the stylecouncil and presentation of their Capsule Collection in the StyleFestPH runway. The winners will also have the opportunity to collaborate with 0917 Lifestyle and Zalora for their collections.
In these changing times, courage and clarity become even more important.
