The star of Butternut’s new Guimaras Mango Crème Cake is Iloilo’s famous Guimaras mangoes – ripe, fresh, sweet, a bit tart, and very juicy. The refreshing dessert features a moist, fluffy, and melt-in-your-mouth-soft vanilla sponge cake, layered generously in between a light crème chantilly and sweet mango compote.

The cake is elegantly topped with a beautiful “mango flower” design, made with chunky slices of the fresh Guimaras mango. Adding to its beauty are edible gold flakes and pearls delicately placed around the cake.

It’s a light but satisfying sweet-tangy dessert that mango lovers will definitely enjoy – the cake itself is moist but not heavy, and works well with the silky chantilly crème. Everything is cohesive (no umay factor here), so no element overpowers the other. However, the delicious, locally-sourced Guimaras mango remains the star.
