Century City Mall's upscale food hall shuts its doors for good

Century City Mall’s premium food hall, Hole In The Wall, has officially shut its doors for good after 6 years of business.

The Makati-based communal dining hall announced their closure on Instagram on Wednesday, November 18, calling the decision “a tough one.”

“Hole in The Wall was our most ambitious project at the time. Inspired by chef-driven food halls abroad, we made it our mission to build the best one we could in Manila. It was the biggest gamble we ever made. And by some stroke of luck, we succeeded. Wildly,” they said.

Hole in the Wall’s success, according to the team, showed that a “thoughtful, refined approach to dining halls” could work in the Philippines, especially since similar concepts opened afterwards.

“Sadly, Hole in the Wall’s story has now reached its end. But instead of feeling down, we just feel immense gratitude. We were lucky to stay open as long as we did, thanks to all of you,” they added.

The team acknowledged their “pretty good run,” citing the success of their pioneer stalls Bad Bird and Scout’s Honor, which are now restaurant chains. The team also mentioned their other “next-level” food hall, The Grid Food Market, which is located in Power Plant Mall, Makati City.

“But those stores are another story. Today, we just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who’s supported Hole in The Wall over our 6 year run. It was a pleasure to serve you, and we hope we’ve left you with plenty of great memories,” they said.

Hole In The Wall, which was located at the top level of Century City Mall, Kalayaan, Makati City, was founded by restaurant group Tasteless Food Group. The group is also behind bringing PizzaExpress, the UK’s largest pizza chain, into the Philippines. – Rappler.com
