Get ube cheese, dulce de leche Spanish bread from this bakery in Cainta
This local bakery offers chewy Spanish bread with different fillings: ube cheese, dulce de leche, and chocolate

Nothing beats a freshly-baked piece of sweet Spanish bread, but have you ever had this Filipino favorite in other flavors?

If you’re curious to try different spins, check out local bakery Guanabana Breadhouse.

Baked fresh every day, Guanabana Breadhouse’s Spanish breads (and all their other pastries) are infused with guyabano extract and are dairy-free. However, the fillings of their Spanish bread aren’t.

Guanabana serves up 4 flavors of their Spanish bread. The original flavor is chewy, sweet, and dusted with a bit of white sugar on the outside, with a light filling inside. It tastes best right out of the toaster.

They also have it in chocolate flavor, which is the OG Spanish bread stuffed with a rich, sweet, chocolate sauce – easily a kid’s favorite.

But it’s the ube cheese variant that fans of the popular flavor duo won’t be able to resist. Guanabana’s Spanish bread is generously filled with real ube halaya and slices of cheese, which form a gooey jam together when heated.

Last is the dulce de leche, which is also a good choice – its condensed milk-based filling is silky, smooth, and tastes like a creamier caramel sauce (and surprisingly isn’t that sweet).

The original flavor costs P12 a piece and P159 a dozen, while the ube cheese costs P25 a piece and P315 a dozen. The chocolate goes for P20 a piece and P255 a dozen, and the dulce de leche is P18 a piece and P231 a dozen.

Guanabana Breadhouse is located in Cainta, Rizal, but they do same-day deliveries around Metro Manila. They’re open from Mondays to Saturdays, 5:30 am to 5 pm.
