Renowned Filipino designer Kenneth Cobonpue teams up with Star Wars to create an out-of-this-world furniture line of galactic proportions

MANILA, Philippines – The force is strong with Kenneth Coponbue, internationally-renowned Filipino furniture designer, as he teams up with the world-famous Star Wars franchise to create out-of-this-world furniture designs, perfect for any die-hard fan (or design enthusiast) out there.

This partnership was first unveiled at the Asia Pop Comic Con 2018 at Pasay City.

According to Cobonpue, it was actually Disney who approached him with the idea of bringing a Star Wars furniture line to life.

“Disney asked me about a year ago to do a line with them for ‘Star Wars.’ When they asked me, I said, ‘You don’t need me to make replica of spaceships.’ They said, “No, we want you to interpret ‘Star Wars’ through the lens of a Filipino designer’,” he said.

Cobonpue officially launched the complete Star Wars furniture collection to the public on Wednesday, October 10, at the Kenneth Cobonpue Showroom in Greenbelt, Makati City.

These one-of-a-kind pieces will only be available in the Philippines for now – specifically in his showrooms located in Manila and Cebu. “Our license is only for the Philippines. Right now we have a lot of people from all over the world who want to see it, so they have to get it through a Filipino,” Cobonpue said. -Rappler.com
