MANILA, Philippines – Furniture retail giant IKEA will be opening its biggest store yet at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City, Metro Manila by “late 2020.”

The announcement was made by IKEA Southeast Asia managing director Christian Rojkjaer on Tuesday, November 20, at the Mall of Asia. At 65,000 square meters, it will be the biggest IKEA store in the world.

IKEA’s expansion to the Philippines will include an e-commerce portal with plans of serving areas outside Metro Manila.The first IKEA Philippines store, of course, includes a restaurant where shoppers can buy the famous IKEA Swedish meatballs. 

The physical store site is currently under construction, but IKEA’s Philippine website is now live.

“Come 2020, we will open an IKEA store to give millions of Filipinos easy access to a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low almost everyone will be able to afford them,” read the IKEA Philippine website’s welcome message.
