KidZania Manila to cease operations in August
Kidzania Manila closes on August 31

KidZania Manila will be closing its doors permanently due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.

In a statement on Wednesday, July 22, Play Innovations Inc, which is behind KidZania Manila, said that their last date of operations will be on August 31.

Play Innovations Inc is a subsidiary of ABS-CBN.

“With the COVID-19 pandemic and ensuing community quarantine, we have complied and suspended operations to prevent the further spread of the virus, which resulted to a massive impact on our revenues. Even if we are allowed to operate in the future, the ‘new normal’ will prohibit mass gathering and require children to remain at home. These conditions have left us with no choice but to close the play city’s doors permanently,” the statement read.

“Our hearts go out to our employees. We are doing everything we can to aid them at this time of uncertainty, including paying out severance benefits as mandated by law and providing job placement programs for them. We appreciate all their hard work.”

The center said that are grateful to the schools and learning institutions that have made KidZania part of their lives.

Located in Taguig City, KidZania Manila is a space that allows children to play different professions. Like other establishments, it closed in March due to the coronavirus lockdown in Metro Manila and Luzon. – Rappler.com
