Writing community leads crowdfunding efforts for Eros Atalia

Crowdfunding efforts are underway for writer Eros Atalia, who is in critical condition with a severe case of COVID-19.

On Facebook, his fellow writers and writers groups shared posts calling for financial aid for Eros – among them author and journalist Joel Pablo Salud, who shared a message from Eros’ wife Jessica Tinio Atalia.

According to Jessica, Eros is intubated and in queue for the ICU.

“We already spent more than 200k And the hospital bill might go to a million or more. If you have excess anything you can give us, will be very much appreciated,” she said.

She and her son also tested positive for the virus.

Donations for Eros’ medical bills may be sent through Jessica’s GCash account.

Art by Jun Cruz Reyes is also up for sale, with all proceeds going to Jessica.

Eros is a writer, professor, and journalist. He is known for his novels Ligo Na U, Lapit Ma Me, which was adapted in to a 2011 film, and Tatlong Gabi, Tatlong Araw, which won the grand prize at the 2013 Palanca Awards for Literature. – Rappler.com
