[WATCH] Spilling the Tea, Episode 4: Gender and sexuality

Is the Philippines really an LGBTQ-friendly country?

For many members of the Filipino LGBTQ+ community, we have yet to reach the point where those who proudly wave the rainbow flag are truly accepted and respected in society, not just tolerated.

Cases of discrimination against Filipino LGBTQ+ continue to run rampant at home, in the workplace, and in public spaces. It has even creeped into schools.

More can be done to make our LGBTQ+ community feel safe and included in the country.

Delving deep into issues that affect women and people under the rainbow spectrum, Rappler has partnered with SheDecides Philippines, a movement promoting the fundamental rights of adolescent girls and women, and SexAndSensibilities.com through webinar series “Spilling the Tea.”

In the fourth episode of this series, we unpack what can be done to help people better understand gender and sexuality, as well as how the lack of awareness can actually affect Filipino LGBTQ+.

This episode is hosted by Ana P. Santos, Rappler’s sex and gender columnist and founder of SexAndSensibilties.com; and Hershey Neri, a TV host, content creator, and an advocate for women and gender rights.
