After the welcome press conference, Julia and Stephanie along with the continental queens – Yaritza Reyes of the Dominican Republic, Natasha Mannuela of Indonesia, Lenty Frans of Belgium, Madeline Cowes of Australia, and Evelyn Njambi of Kenya – went around Manila to check on the projects of the organization. Madla Mandela, grandson of the late South African president Nelson Mandela, was also with them.

On Saturday, September 2, the ladies went to the Tuloy Foundation headed by Fr Rocky Evangelista and to the Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, the beneficiary of the Miss World Philippines 2017 pageant.

What a day! Today we were able to visit the Tuloy Children’s Foundation Orphanage which is committed to the cause of poor, abandoned, homeless children. We met Father Rocky (the founder) listened to his story, and what he has achieved. In 1993 when the foundation was first opened there were only 12 children, there is now 1000! We were then able to meet some of the children from the foundation (there are 200 out of 1000 that live there permanently) who performed a song for us (which was incredible – check my Insta story!) and then we were able to meet them and chat to them for a while. The impact that Father Rocky and this foundation has had on these children’s lives truly is remarkable. Photo: @blackflash_media @missworld #bwap #missworld #tuloyfoundation #missworldph

As years pass by I just realize how much joy is hidden in the small things and today, was one of those days that made me learn more about that. . Our visit to Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital was simply Beautiful, we were able to experience the strength and happiness of the kids that were patience in there, see how a hug, smile or funny face would make them lit up and and forget about their current situation, but as that happen when they were forgetting that pain, they were giving us happiness and teaching us a lesson about appreciation, love and care. . Casimiro Is a 7 years old suffering from malnutrition, as I was talking to his father he would look at me and move his eyes quickly when i would look back at him. Talk to them for sometime and then asked for a picture with a BIG SIMLE, and so he did, looking at his face on the screen of the phone and then having his father look at him and thank for making Casimiro happy, filled me with energy, then all I saw from him was more smiles, I have him tow gentle fist bumps and when I realized we were the only three left in the room (hahah) so had to run back to everyone, literally that smile made time stand still. #beautywithapurpose #Philipines #missworld #missworldcaribbean
