Elizabeth Clenci designated as PH peace ambassador
Elizabeth, who is set to compete in the Miss Grand International pageant in Vietnam, joins the ranks of the country's peace ambassadors

MANILA, Philippines – In a simple ceremony on August 24, Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Dureza designated Elizabeth Clenci, reigning Bb Pilipinas Grand International 2017, as a National Peace Ambassador.

In a post from her Instagram Stories that day, Elizabeth said: “September is Peace Month. And I am so honored to announce that I have formally accepted the title of being one of the National Peace ambassadors.”

What will you be doing as a National Peace Ambassador?

September is Peace Month. So, there is a schedule of activities for the 2017 National Peace Conscious Month. Activities, forums, and contests to create awareness and bring us all together in unity. Being appointed as National Peace Ambassador is an absolute honor. I began this journey with a small yet significant vision and a lot of hope. When I received the letter, I was filled with absolute joy. As I said, it’s an incredible honor and I cannot wait to do everything I can as an ambassador of peace to inspire open communication, equality, and understanding not only within the nation but hopefully on a global scale.

In light of all the recent injustices, violence, and war in our country, what can we do as individuals?

Peace through equality and understanding is my main advocacy and that is what I hope – to shine light on equality through understanding. This is something each and everyone can do. There are many paths to peace but if we each do what we can to make this world a better place and if we all lead by example of equality and understanding, then we can all make a difference. We are all a part of this community and that word in itself contains unity.

As an ambassador of peace, it is my goal to inspire us ALL to be ambassadors of peace, unity and understanding. If we each choose the path of peace as individuals doing what we can, then collectively we create a community of peace. No matter how much the leaders and influencers of the world speak of peace, it is upon each and every one to take the necessary action and live it.

As Philippine Peace Ambassador and Bb Pilipinas Grand International, what would be your message to the world?

Let us unite together for humanity. To strive for effective communication, equality, and understanding as a way of life, rather than a concept of a value we try to achieve. Peace isn’t acheived by just one person, one leader, one influencer. Each and every one of us plays equally just an important role. And I think that’s where equality starts…knowing that you…no matter your age, race, religion or sexual preference…are just as equal and significant as anyone else, to make a difference in this world.

Aside from her new duties as National Peace Ambassador, Elizabeth is also preparing to represent the country in Miss Grand International 2017 to be held in Vietnam on October 25. – Rappler.com
