Photo recap: Binibining Pilipinas 2019 coronation night
MANILA, Philippines – The Binibining Pilipinas 2019 coronation night on Sunday, June 9 was full of energy – pageant fans gathered at the Smart Araneta Coliseum to cheer for their respective bets.
This year, the pageant started off on a patriotic note, with the Philippine flag waving high and proud to the song "Raise Your Flag," an original that was first sang during Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray's homecoming.
The song was born out of a question Catriona answered the Miss Universe pageant in Thailand. An enthusiastic (then) Miss Philippines said she was standing not just for herself but for 104 million Filipinos.
Bacolod's Cassandra Chan had a solo, and danced a short ballet number as part of the opening.
Richard Gutierrez returned this year as host alongside Anne Curtis, who wowed the audience in her show stopping outfits. Anne also hosted the pageant back in 2014.
Negros Occidental's Vickie Rushton nabbed most of the special awards in the first round.
The Top 25 was announced.
The Top 25 candidates then battled it out in the swimsuit and evening gown competition. The two rounds would determine the Top 15.
After the two rounds, it was time for the Top 15, wherein the candidates faced the judges for the Q and A.
Prior to the announcement of the Top 15, another set of special awards were announced.
The judges then deliberated. The 2018 queens led by Catriona Gray and Karen Gallman made their farewell walk and speeches.

The reigning Miss Universe gave her speech live to the audience, telling them that she was proud to carry the country's flag during the pageant. She also shared 3 things she had to hurdle to be the person that she is today.
"I may only be one person, but now I have the opportunity to serve 104 million Filipinos, and I knew that I was doing this para sa Pilipinas. Inside each and every one of us is a king or queen with the ability to conquer the universe, whatever that may be for you. But we must first conquer ourselves, conquer what others perceive of us, and finally, conquer with a purpose," she said.
For the last time, the 2018 queens of Bb Pilipinas gathered on stage.
The announcement of winners came. It was a big night for the province of Cebu with Gazini Ganados of Talisay crowned Miss Universe Philippines and Samantha Lo winning the Bb Pilipinas Grand International crown.
