Will Vickie Rushton try Binibining Pilipinas one more time?

MANILA, Philippines — Vickie Rushton said she still doesn’t know if she’ll be joining Binibining Pilipinas one last time. The Negrense beauty joined Binibining Pilipinas 2019 and finished in the Top 15. She also joined in 2018 and won 1st runner-up. 

In an interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda aired Tuesday, June 18, Vickie said: “Hindi ko po alam. Hindi ko masasabi kasi last year, nung nag 1st runner-up ako sabi ko ayoko na mag join. Pero last minute, nag join din ako. So we’ll see.” (I don’t know. I can’t say because last year, I was 1st runner-up and I said I didn’t want to join again. But at the last minute, I did. So we’ll see.)

Vickie, who took home 6 special awards during the pageant, said she felt she could have done better had she not been distracted by someone from the audience during the Q&A. “Parang nakuha lang yung attention ko, eh hindi ko naman siya kilala. Pero dapat sabi ko nga hindi ako dapat na distract kasi dapat focus ako sa self ko. So wala din ako biniblame.” 

(He got my attention; I didn’t even know him. But I should not have allowed myself to be distracted, I should have focused on myself. So I’m not blaming anyone else.)

For now, Vickie is looking forward to other projects. “Tuloy ang laban sa buhay,” she said. (The fight continues.)

The beauty queen, who is also an actress, admitted that playing Darna – a homegrown Filipino comicbook hero – was one of her dream roles.
