It has been said that the tarot cards contain secrets of the universe. It is only through the discovery of your own hidden depths that we begin to learn these secrets. Meanwhile, through its archetypes and symbolism, astrology serves as the medium for self-discovery, revealing inclinations and abilities with stark accuracy, and enlightening the dark recesses of our ignorance. 

While the two differ, they are like separate chapters of the same book. Certain cards in the tarot are said to represent each of the 12 signs. Knowing the tarot card that rules your sign can be helpful in understanding your personality as well as the challenges you’re likely to face and the spiritual lessons you’ll eventually learn from them. At the end of the day, having an open yet critical mind can help in speeding up our goals of self-realization. 1. High Priestess – Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

Meticulous, tidy, and thorough, Virgo, you are perfectionist of the zodiac. Enormously hardworking, you’re first to roll up your sleeves and get on with the job. Your capacity for endless worry, though, can cloud your life unnecessarily. You can also be a first-class nagger, emphasizing people’s failings and sloppiness; but while you can be critical of others, you’re actually the most critical of yourself.

The High Priestess represents wisdom, knowledge, serenity, and understanding. She is the guardian of the unconscious realm, a link to the subconscious mind through dreams and symbols. 3. The Emperor – Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Energetic, passionate, and exciting, you Scorpios have a bad reputation among traditional astrologers. Driven by your desires and drawn to the mysterious, you will stop at nothing to get to the truth – you are some of the finest BS detectors. This tendency towards the excess may often get you in trouble. When you become dependent on earthly things, you become isolated, then blame others for the situation you’re in.

4. The Chariot – Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Sagittarius, you are the seeker, aiming your arrow to the sky, hoping to travel far and wide. Open, optimistic, enthusiastic, and tolerant, you’re one of the most likeable folks around. Like Apollo, pulling his golden chariot, you are a patron of light, life, and healing. From Apollo and his followers, we received the inspiring philosophy of “Gnothi seauton” – know thyself. It is in these journeys that you seek and hope to gain more wisdom.

The Chariot represents struggle – internal or external – and victory through will and discipline. You must be level-headed, disciplined, and in control of your passion and your intellect in order to triumph over difficulties and limitations. 5. The Hermit – Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

Aquarian, you are the humanitarian, the bearer of knowledge and truth. Didn’t you always dream of making the world a better place?

The Hermit suggests that in order to do that, a time of inward focus, introspection, and isolation is required of you. By constant spiritual effort, you are encouraged to leave the security of your ego in order to radiate a higher vibration and help light the way for others. Take this time for self care and accepting the growth and intense learning that is to come. This climb will not make you a recluse but a light for fellow souls in distress. 6. Justice – Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

Disciplined, methodical, sensible, with remarkable ambition is the mountain goat who slowly and steadily makes his way to the peak. This is the way you approach life, Capricorn, captain of your own ship. Mundane pettiness and worries beset you, leaving you anxious and unsettled 24/7.

The Justice card suggests you use your intuition and ambition when getting to the truth. Justice reflects the search for truth and represents the effects of your actions and the consequences of your decisions. Honesty and responsibility within yourself is the best path to understanding and controlling situations. You are not meant to be a prisoner in your body. An understanding that you are not confined to your physical body but that you have spirit and soul can help you overcome the restrictions of earthly thoughts. You must learn to understand the power you have over your own existence. How can you think one thing then do the opposite? 7. The Hanged Man – Pisces (February 19 – March 20) 

You are the mystic with a capacity to bring about healing. Emotional, dreamy, with strong creative instincts, you often seem out of place in the everyday world. Kind sensitive souls, you delight in the happiness and fulfillment of others. Like two fish swimming in opposite directions, as represented by your glyph, however, you can be extremely indecisive. You may be afraid of offering your own opinions, yet at the same time resent it when others take command. 

The Hanged Man represents crossroads, decisions, change, and letting go. Only when you can let go of old habits and hurts from the past can you be released from the turmoil that comes from your own actions. Meditation is a good practice to achieve this. Learn to relax both physically and mentally and allow yourself to be renewed.

8. Death – Aries (March 21 to April 19)

Ruled by Mars, Aries, you are a force to be reckoned with. You are the defenders of the underdog and drawn to campaigns for the betterment of humanity. Always leaping before looking, you often find yourself in deep trouble. Then, you become hurt and bewildered, asking, “Why me? I was only trying to help!” This is a typical Arian response when things fall apart because of your own miscalculation or inappropriate behavior, and may bring about little bouts of depression.

9. Temperance – Taurus (April 20 to May 20) 

The sensualists of the zodiac, you turn being pampered into a serious art form. You are sensual eaters who love being touched and massaged, and can suffer real feelings of deprivation if denied these simple pleasures. One of your most negative traits is your fierce possessiveness and making unreasonable accusations. Jealousy can provoke sudden outbursts of rage when you charge, like a bull at a gate, in blind fits of fury.

The temperate individual finds a balance in life by avoiding extremes. 10. The Star – Gemini (May 21 to June 20)
