Ms PH Earth Iriga City: Katherine Dominique Lagrimas
MANILA, Philippines - In line with the Miss Philippines Earth 2013 pageant's water conservation theme, this 23-year-old TV host says, "We should implement and strictly adhere to the rules inscribed in the Clean Water Act."
Describe your childhood/growing-up years (8-13 years old):
I have always regarded myself as a school girl. What is prominent in my childhood years is the thought that I never actually had summer vacations particularly during elementary years. From Grade 1 to 6, straight, I spent my summers enrolled in a summer school just beside our then home. That's why family excursions were rare.
Most memorable moment:
I consider winning the Miss Bicolandia pageant held in Naga City the most memorable moment of my life. I've been chasing the Miss Bicolandia dream for 5 years. I joined the pageant thrice.
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
As my humble share and as a part of my personal goal, I vouch for the full implementation of the Clean Water Act and other related environmental laws and statutes. I fully support the conservation and protection of our forests, watersheds, waterways, water bodies--both salt and freshwater--and other water resources.
My environmental advocacy is particularly directed to water because it is so vital as it is the fountain of life. But because we have a lot of it in our country some people tend to overlook its importance. Little do we know that there is a struggle involving water. One false move could endanger so many lives.
