Ms PH Earth Dalaguete, Cebu: Pircelyn Pialago
NAME: Pircelyn Burce Pialago
MUNICIPALITY OR CITY: Dalaguete, Cebu
Describe your childhood/growing up years: My childhood was marked by mostly happy times with my family. But there were challenges, too. For example, I met many bullies in my childhood. I learned that rather than curl up somewhere and cry, I had to stand up for myself.
What lessons did you learn from your childhood/growing years?: Be yourself. Believe in yourself.
Most memorable moment: To be one of the youngest Newscasters in the Philippine Broadcasting Industry
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?: I want to contribute to the cause of saving the environment by promoting green technology. This is technology that gives off less pollution and consumes less energy. This includes alternative fuel cars and L.E.D. lights. I believe green technology is important because you don't need to change much in your lifestyle so you can be environmentally friendly. But I believe few people are aware of this kind of technology. So I want to use my journalistic skills to help inform people of it.
What tip can you share to promote Eco-Tourism in your City/Municipality/Province: My provincial home town is Dalaguete in Cebu. My tip for eco-tourism in my hometown is to provide environment friendly local transport, for example, the e-tricycles. Since e-tricylces do not give off so much pollution, they are safer for the environment when bringing people around town. There is no smoke that can harm local plant and animal life, or even people with respiratory diseases. I want to support giving environment-friendly tools to local tourism businesses, which would also help the locals in their livelihood.
