DESCRIBE YOUR GROWING-UP YEARS: Active would be the word to describe my childhood. I was always involved in school programs, sports, advanced classes, and included in the honor roll.
With my mother being a single parent, I’ve always looked for ways to use my skills, since a very early age, to help out. As young as 11 years old I spent summers teaching swimming, tutoring Math, English, and Science studies around our neighborhood as well as Sunday School at our local church. I couldn’t keep still at home so I’ve always resorted to productivity instead.
MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT: My most memorable moment was when I was advanced and graduated high school 2 years sooner.
This is most memorable to me because this was one of, if not the hardest period of my life which was when my mom hit a financial crisis and we were left living in a car, taking showers and using park washrooms to groom ourselves for months.
My acceleration in school was the much-needed turn of fate for both of us. It brought my mom joy and the strength to fight and it made me believe in myself again and have my faith back in life.
WHAT IS YOUR AMBITION IN LIFE? My ambition in life would be to become successful in my own standards so that I can take care of my family and to be of help to our community so that my loved ones as well as others could live a better life.
WHAT IS YOUR ENVIRONMENTAL ADVOCACY? WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS? My environmental advocacy is sharing my belief in respecting our nature, protecting and preserving eco-tourism sites.
WHAT TIP CAN YOU SHARE TO PROMOTE ECO-TOURISM IN YOUR CITY/MUNICIPALITY/ PROVINCE? Intensified campaign to promote eco-tourism sites through use of social network to attract more local and foreign tourists. Organize regular clean-up drives around eco-tourism sites by local citizens covering all sectors – youth, business, civic groups and even senior citizens. In this way, hand in hand and as one, citizens benefitting from the eco-tourism sites will take pride in promoting and taking care of it. – Rappler.com
