Ms PH Earth Gerona, Tarlac: Marjorie Iglesia Acuña
NAME: Marjorie Iglesia Acuña
MUNICIPALITY OR CITY: Gerona, Tarlac
How she describes her childhood: During my childhood years, I would sometimes envy other kids because they would get to celebrate their birthdays, holidays and other special occasions with their dad.
Our family was challenged by distance. My father had to work abroad and would come home yearly for a month-long vacation. Meanwhile, my mother stays with us at home to guide us. Although they were apart, they were able to raise us well and made us become God-fearing individuals who recognize strong family ties. It may not have been perfect but I am very thankful that I have the best parents in the world.
Lessons learned from childhood: Put God and family above all things. Faith and love are the ultimate source of our strength and can never be taken away from us.
Most memorable moment: Graduating from medical school was the most memorable moment of my life. My parents and I have been dreaming of this since I was a kid. They’ve worked hard and made sacrifices to fulfill that dream. Handing them my diploma was just one of the many ways I could thank them. Making our dream a reality is, by far, my greatest achievement.
In these changing times, courage and clarity become even more important.
