Ms PH Earth Makati: Mary Anne Misa
NAME: Mary Anne Ross Misa
MUNICIPALITY OR CITY: Makati City
How she describes her childhood: Growing up, my family has and still is my inspiration to strive in life. Without them, I don’t think I could have become the woman that I’ve become. They have always been there for me and they have taught me the importance and value of love, respect and trust.
Lessons learned from childhood: When I was a child, the only thing I knew was to enjoy life. Everything seemed so simple. I remember what my parents told me before: they told me not to rush things because I have to enjoy my youth. They were right. Once I grew older, responsibilities started coming in and obligations started to appear. Life wasn’t as easy as I thought it was. But I have learned to take every challenge with no regrets and to just be me. I have learned to be strong no matter how tough the storm is. I learned to be humble and to pray to God at all times.
Most memorable moment: My most memorable moment was when I worked in Singapore. I felt like I was thrown into open water without knowing which shore to swim to. It was a challenge for me to stand in my own two feet because I didn’t know anyone and I had to go there for work. Fortunately, I learned how to be independent and I became successful with the workload thrown at me when I was there.
Environmental advocacy: I am representing the city of Makati and I think that the use of diesel fuels is one of the main culprits which cause air pollution. Studies show that a lot of people don’t know the dangers of what dirty, polluted air can do to their system which is why I want to promote the use of eco-cars or bio-diesel fuels to at least help lessen or eliminate pollution. – Rappler.com
