Ms PH Earth Melbourne, Australia: Carmen Baena
NAME: Carmen Baena
REGION: MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA
Career or Occupation: Student of Visual Communications and Arts in International Studies at the University of Technology, Sydney
Hobbies: Fitness, Cooking, Volunteering
How she describes her childhood: Growing up as the middle child with my two brothers I had a privileged childhood being the only daughter in the family. We were not rich but I was spoiled. We didn’t have the newest things but worked for it. We were punished when we were disrespectful. And even with the busy lifestyle of my parents working so hard, we still learned to appreciate, work and pray for all our blessings.
Most memorable moment: The time I was boarding the plane to America for three months. This was my first time travelling overseas by myself where I remember feeling so excited and anxious at the same time as it would be the longest trip without seeing my family and friends.
Her ambition in life: My ambition in life is to be a successful designer and/or a career woman with my own business and family. At the same time, I want to be a beauty queen and advocate who can inspire other people to change, help and make the future a better place.
Why she wants to be Miss Philippines-Earth 2014: I’d like to become a role model who is able to implement, support and maintain projects related to various environmental issues which affect everyone worldwide and our future.
Environmental advocacy: Expanding and developing on recycling because using the skills and things which we already have reduces the risk of creating more congestion and waste in this world.
Tips to promote Eco-tourism: A tip I could share to promote eco-tourism would be to expand awareness and cooperation through recent forms of technology and education. – Rappler.com
