Ms PH Earth Taytay, Rizal: Anna Carmela Aquino
NAME: Anna Carmela Aquino
MUNICIPALITY OR CITY: Taytay, Rizal
How she describes her childhood: My parents and grandparents raised me in a religious environment. They even enrolled me in a Catholic School. They allowed me to be independent and discover things on my own because they know that I have a solid foundation spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. I discovered my passion for dancing at an early age which I worked hard to develop and exemplify.
Most memorable moment: The most memorable moment in my life was when I graduated college and passed the Licensure Examinations for Teachers. This is the most memorable for me because I worked my way through college by being a university scholar and was part of the Kislap Sining Dance Troupe. It was a combination of hard work and determination that made me more determined to excel in my education
Environmental advocacy: As part of the Educational System, my environmental advocacy is to include Environmental Education in the curriculum. This project would include workshops and seminars to schools all over the country.
Educators would spare an hour per week to promote awareness of the current situation of our environment to the youth. This will make them more conscious of our surroundings and learn ways to care for the environment. Tree planting would be a very simple yet effective way of rebuilding our environment. This would be a regular activity for students.
I chose this advocacy because I believe that the youth is the hope of our future. We cannot solve things if we are not aware of it. Awareness is the key. For the true development and making the surroundings greener, we should start making our youth aware and guide them to find ways to maximize what we have by fostering the rebirth of mother earth.
Career/Occupation: Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics Graduate of Philippine Normal University and works as Customer Service Representative at Teletech
Hobbies: Dancing, Singing, Playing Guitar
Why do you want to be Miss Philippines-Earth 2014? I want to be Miss Philippines Earth 2014 because I want to serve as an inspiration to everyone that dreams really do come true through hard work and having faith. Also, I want to inculcate environmental awareness in the younger generations and make everyone responsible for the world that we are living in. This is my advocacy, to be Mother Earth’s ambassador.
Tips to promote eco-tourism: The tip I can share to promote eco-tourism in our municipality is to make a steering committee that will focus on eco-tourism. As part of this, we will continue to search for possible eco-tourism spots in the area. It may be a newly discovered location or an existing area that could still be developed to attract tourism. Eco-tourism would also help the most important resource we have in Taytay, our manpower. This would help build jobs for the people in the community and at the same time promote environmental awareness. – Rappler.com
