This year's theme is 'Dyosa ng Inang Kalikasan'

MANILA, Philippines – The 42 candidates of Miss Earth Philippines 2018 were formally presented to the media on Thursday, May 10, at the poolside of Diamond Hotel Philippines.

The 2017 queens headed by Miss Earth Karen Ibasco introduced the candidates, who wore white swimsuits.

The press also picked 3 ladies as this year’s Darling of the Press – Celeste Cortesi (bronze), Zahra Bianca Saldua (silver), and Leandrea Batingan (gold).

The theme of the pageant is “Dyosa ng Inang Kalikasan,” with a focus on promoting ecotourism in the country.

In a statement, Lorraine Schuck, executive vice president and co-founder of Miss Earth said it was important to teach people of the actions they do that can destroy the environment.

“We are in a country that ranks tourism as one of its major sources of revenues. It is only fitting that we become united in protecting these destinations from the effects of human activities. Of course, it doesn’t mean restricting people from enjoying these natural wonders, but teaching them to be mindful of their acts that can cause damage to the environment,” she said.

The coronation is scheduled on May 19, at the Mall of Asia Arena.

MISS HANNA WINNER. Five ladies have been chosen for the Miss Hana award, which will be voted by fans.
