Postmaster General Joel Otarra presents the stamps to Pia during her visit in the country

MANILA, Philippines – Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach formally received her limited edition stamp during the winners’ tea party of Binibining Pilipinas last Monday, April 18.

Pia was presented with the framed postage stamp by Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost)  Postmaster General Joel Otarra. (READ: PHLPost to issue Pia Wurtzbach stamps)

“It is our privilege to personally present to Ms. Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach her own stamp as this is equally important to us because it seldom for us to issue a stamp to [a] living person. She will now join the roster of PHLPost’s Living Legends,” he said in a press release.

Pia wrote on Instagram, “What an honor it is to join the roster of PHLPost’s Living Legends. As a little background story, posts are very seldom awarded to those who are still living, which means they have seen me as someone who is worthy of this honor and who has brought pride to the Filipino community. Thank you for this [PHLPost].”

According to PHLPost, they will print around 101,000 pieces of the stamp which costs P15 each. Around 5,000 pieces of the souvenir sheets will be printed and sell for P40 each.

Pia is the latest “Living Legend” to get her own stamp. She joins the list of personalities such as Manny Pacquiao, Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz, Miss Universe 1973 Margie Moran, and Miss World 2013 Megan Young to be immortalized in postage stamps.

In an interview with ABS-CBN, Pia said that she and Megan got in touch already and promised to exchange stamps with each other.

Nakausap ko siya nung isang araw sa phone tapos sabi nga namin, kapag nakuha ko na ‘yung stamp ko, magpapalitan kami para mayroon ako nung stamp niya, mayroon din siya ng stamp ko,” she said.

(I was able to talk to her the other day on the phone and I said that if I get my stamp, we should exchange, so that I have her stamp and she has mine.)

“Magkaibigan kami. Magka-batch kami sa ABS nung nag-aartista pa kami pareho. Aces and Queens din kami pareho. As Miss World and Miss Universe ng Pilipinasmag-e-exchange stamps kami.”

(We’re friends. We’re batchmates in ABS when we were still both actors. We also belong to Aces and Queens. As Miss World and Miss Universe from the Philippines, we should exchange stamps.)

Pia returned to the country last week to crown the next representative to the Miss Universe pageant. She passed on her crown to Maxine Medina, who now has the huge task of replicating the country’s success in the pageant. – Rappler.com
