Katarina Rodriguez joins Miss World Philippines
Katarina jumps from Intercontinental to Miss World Philippines aspirant

MANILA, Philippines – Binibining Pilipinas and Miss Intercontinental 2017 1st runner-up Katarina Rodriguez is giving pageantry another try.

On Wednesday, August 15, Katarina was one of the ladies spotted at the screening of the Miss World Philippines held at House Manila in Resorts World Manila.

In a chance interview with Rapppler during the break, Katarina shared the experience of taking another shot in a pageant.

“I’m more nervous I suppose this time,” she said. “Because I have expectations and I just went through na sobrang bago pa (that are so fresh). So it’s more of the mental preparation of like here you go again. Because in order to do a pageant, you’ll need a lot of endurance and stamina.”

Katarina said that she has the support of her 2017 Bb Pilipinas sisters. Miss Universe 2017 Rachel Peters, who was a Miss World Philippines runner-up herself even gave her a pep talk.

“She just gave me some words of comfort and she went through what pretty much I went through but opposite. She’s a very, very admirable woman so it was really nice to hear those words of comfort from her.”

Hours before the screening, Katarina posted: “2018, the year where I told myself to take a deep breath, pull up my sleeves, and get out of my comfort zone. Tara na (let’s go), World!”

After relinquishing her Binibining Pilipinas Interncontinental title to Karen Gallman last March, Katarina took a vacation to the US. Prior to the Miss World Philippines screening, Katarina told pageant contributor Voltaire Tayag that she was thinking of exploring the pageantry scene one more time.

Before she entered pageantry, Katarina was a runner-up in Asia’s Next Top Model season 2. (8 fun facts: Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental 2017 Katarina Rodriguez)
