MANILA, Philippines – The only makeup trend that we see every season is healthy, beautiful skin. This puts an emphasis on having a healthy diet, a good amount of exercise and the right attitude to deal with everyday stress.
With healthy skin, you already have a good base with which to work different kinds of makeup and create different looks. Freelance makeup artist Diane Lorenzana shows us how to create different looks to reflect your ever-changing moods.
1. THE LOOK: Bright red lips
The fastest way to get noticed is to wear red lipstick. Red lips are a classic.
Seen at: Missoni, Rochas, Dries Van Noten, Jason Wu, Prada
Products used: Mac cherry lip pencil and red satin lipstick
Make-up tip: Line the lips using the lip pencil before filling it in. Use foundation or concealer to fix smudges.
2. THE LOOK: Feelin’ blue
Go for something different: try lining your lash with a bright color, like blue. You can also place this on your inner lash line, whether at the top or bottom.
Seen at: Altuzarra, Stella McCartney
Products used: Urban Decay eye primer potion and blue eyeliner
Make-up tip: Use primer to make the eyeliner color pop more.
3. THE LOOK: Brown smokey eyes
This is the smokey look perfect for daytime. If you want to go more sexy and seductive, go for black.
Seen at: Lanvin, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Vera Wang, Versace
Products used: NARS duo eyeshadow in Surabaya, Laguna Bronzer and Orgasm blush; Mac Rice Paper eyeshadow; Make Up Store Crust lipstick; Maybeline Black Cell eyeliner
Make-up tip: Stick to one or two brown shades. Highlight the brow bone.
4. THE LOOK: Natural
The skin also needs a break from heavy, layered makeup. This allows you to show off your natural, healthy glow.
Seen at: Alexander McQueen, Alexander Wang, Balmain, Diane von Furstenburg, Jill Sander, Marni, Narciso Rodriguez, 3.1 Philip Lim, Rag and Bone, Rodarte, Valentino
Products used: Mac Studo Fix powder, Mac Melba Matte powder blush, Montego Bay pure matte lipstick
Make-up Tip: Keep it matte, if you want to achieve a natural glow. Stick to peach-pink tones. Powder foundation is a nice alternative to liquid foundation. Use a wet sponge to create a sheer effect.
5. THE LOOK: White-out
This look can make eyes seem bigger. White eyeliner also makes eyes brighter and adds a certain glow overall.
Seen at: Marc Jacobs, Giambattista Valli, Louis Vuition, Bottega Venneta
Products used: NYX white jumbo eye pencil, Mac coffee eyeliner pencil, Maybeline Cat-eye mascara, Bobbi Brown blonde eyebrow pencil.
Make-up tip: Use white eyeliner on the inner lash line and brown eyeliner on the outer lash line to make your eyes pop. Curl lashes and apply mascara.
