MANILA, Philippines – Breathtaking.

This word kept running over and over in my mind as I watched the show of SM Men’s Fashion and SM Boys Teens’ Wear at Philippine Fashion Week (#PhFW) Spring-Summer 2014 last October 24 at Halls 2 and 3 of the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay City.

Introduced as the new face of the brand was British supermodel David Gandy, but this fact did not overshadow the fashion nor the show.

The staging was magnificent: circular stage of LED screens with an orchestra in the middle. When they played Katy Perry’s “Roar,” I knew I was going to enjoy the show. Lights, music and fashion came together in one of the best retail shows I have ever seen in #PhFW.

Hideo Muraoka, Daniel Matsunaga, Fabio Ide and Rafael do Prado led batches of models wearing the different trends SM will feature for the holidays and the coming summer. Jewel tones of green and red, among others, and tartan added life to classic looks for the adults, while checks and prints highlighted the styles for teens.

DAPPER. David Gandy gives the crowd a sunny smile

When Gandy took the stage for one round on the runway, the audience burst into applause, followed by an appreciative silence. All eyes were on the supermodel. All are excited for his upcoming campaign.
