Johnny Weir’s sparkly, show-stopping Sochi wardrobe

Vintage Chanel blazers, Louboutins, and leather: Johnny Weir steals the show at Sochi

MANILA, Philippines – Retired figure skater Johnny Weir stole the show in Sochi this week with his colorful, eye-catching outfits.

A 3-time US champion and former Olympian, Weir, 29, was tapped by NBC’s Sports Network to comment on figure skating competitions at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics, with fellow Olympian Tara Lipinski.

I decided to go more of Stanley Tucci’s character from The Hunger Games,” he told Philadelphia magazine, of his fabulous wardrobe, which features statement jackets, boots, tailored blazers, and printed scarves. “I’m trying to stay between the lines of Johnny on Skating with the Stars and the rest of the NBC men’s family in Brooks Brothers.”

The outspoken, openly gay Weir apparently did not find it a challenge to report from Russia, where strict rules about expression of homosexuality are in place – last December, some members of the LGBT community took issue with his decision to attend the games despite Russia’s controversial laws

With his co-host, he’s received positive reviews about his participation as a commenter in the Winter Olympics, with deadspin.com saying that he’s stayed away from political commentary this time around, opting to focus on the sports program.

The Olympian made Sochi his runway, flaunting his designer clothes and shoes that are worthy of a gold medal for his “Outfit of the Day” photos.

Here are some of his recent #OOTDs posted on his Instagram:

Winner: his braided ‘do
