MANILA, Philippines – The recent launch of H&M’s Philippine showroom, intended to be another venue to showcase the best of the brand’s revolving door of merchandise, also gave media a chance to view some of the items that will be available when the store finally opens in the 3rd quarter of 2014.
According to Showroom Manager Nikki Verzo, the over 3000-square meter, 3-floor store will carry the major departments (menswear, womenswear, infants to childrenswear), including the more premium Studio line as well as the trendier Divided line, and the Conscious collection. There are standout items in the regular menswear and womenswear collections – but the Studio line appears by far the star, with 100% leather jackets; drapey, swingy trousers; streamlined, defined coats; and light-as-air slip dresses leading the pack.
Many of the pieces from this collection are immediately recognizable from the Studio Autumn/Winter 2014 runway show held in Paris, attended by celebrities like Solange Knowles, Miranda Kerr, Anna Dello Russo, Jessica Alba, and Olivia Palermo.
That includes a navy jacket with a fuzzy black trim, a semi-sparkly black and blue blazer, and a long statement overcoat.

And of course, the shoes and accessories are not to be left out, either. Tall boots, slinky sandals, and loafers take center stage in this group of items.
And while the usual gold accessories do make an appearance here, pouches in pastel pink and gray, as well as oversized chain necklaces in gray and black, make a strong impression. A chunky purple statement necklace will probably feel heavy to wear – but will anchor any basic outfit and give it some real oomph.
Of the regular women’s line, watch out for the sweaters – cropped, knit, patterned – and the dresses (there are lacy and slinky, ebony and ivory).

Quite a few parents at the event also made a beeline for the children’s rack, where we spotted mini puffy jackets, dainty cardigans, and textured skirts. Those tiny shoes on the floor were also admired by many who approached to take a look.
