Global K-pop sensation BTS are Louis Vuitton’s newest house ambassadors, the luxury brand announced on social media and in a press release on Friday, April 23.
“Joining as new House Ambassadors, the world renowned Pop Icons @bts_bighit are recognized for their uplifting messages that impart a positive influence,” Louis Vuitton wrote on Twitter and Instagram, welcoming members RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung-kook.
“I am delighted BTS are joining Louis Vuitton today. I am looking forward to this wonderful partnership which adds a modern chapter to the House, merging luxury and contemporary culture. I can’t wait to share all the very exciting projects we are working on,” Louis Vuitton Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh said.
Besides their music, BTS’ members are also well-known for their fashion and style. “Becoming global brand ambassadors for Louis Vuitton is a truly exciting moment for us. We are excited for our upcoming projects with Virgil Abloh,” the boy group said.
The 7-member boy band was invited by Abloh for Louis Vuitton’s fashion week presentation earlier this year. BTS has also been spotted wearing pieces from Louis Vuitton’s fall collection in the 2021 Grammy Awards red carpet, as well as Prada in their BE press conference in Seoul. They have also had partnerships with shoe brands Fila, Skechers, Reebok, Puma, and streetwear brand Anti Social Social Club.
The latest partnership comes after the pop band’s recent endorsement with fast food chain McDonald’s for the “BTS Meal” and with telecommunications brand Smart for the local Live Your Passion With Purpose campaign.
The Grammy-nominated septet began their debut in South Korea in 2013 and have since garnered worldwide success, selling out concerts in minutes and getting backed by an international fandom lovingly called the ARMY. – with reports from Andrea Tibayan/Rappler.com
