‘Maybe it’s Hidilyn’: L’Oreal Group pledges P2M in products to Filipina Olympians

The L’Oreal Group on Wednesday, July 28, pledged P2 million “worth of support” to female Filipino athletes who competed at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. 

Support from the international beauty and cosmetics company means a P2-million “beauty package” that includes products from the L’Oreal Group’s companies – L’Oréal Paris, Maybelline, Kiehl’s, Garnier, Kérastase, and L’Oréal Professionnel.

“Hidilyn’s historical record-breaking performance has become a source of pride for athletes all over the country, and her unwavering spirit and confidence has won the country over. Hidilyn has mentioned in previous interviews that it feels good to feel beautiful when she competes. She’s shared in the past that being a woman shouldn’t define what female athletes can do,” said the company. 

Hidilyn and her team will be allocated P600,000 worth of products of their choice from L’Oreal Group brands. The 10 female Filipino Olympians – Kristina Marie Knott, Nesthy Petecio, Irish Magno, Yuka Saso, Bianca Pagdanganan, Kiyomi Watanabe, Margielyn Didal, Remedy Rule, and Elreen Ando – may also avail of the beauty package worth P1.4 million collectively. 

Hidilyn made history on July 26 after clinching the Philippines’ first gold Olympics medal after she ruled the 55kg in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics weightlifting competition. Nesthy, on July 28, secured at least a bronze for the Philippines in the women’s featherweight boxing event. Several other Filipino Olympians are still in contention for podium finishes.
