Judging by the cat’s color

How judgmental can people be?

Apparently, so judgmental that we even judge cats by the color of their coats.

In a survey conducted by Psychology researcher Mikel Delgado, she and her co-authors asked 189 respondents to rank different colored-cats based on what they think is the cat’s most dominant personality. In the criteria of traits were “active, aloof, bold, calm, friendly, intolerant, tolerant, shy, stubborn, and trainable.”

Results say the respondents find tortoiseshell cats as intolerant, orange cats and bi-colored cats as friendly, white cats as calm, while black cats had no positive or negative traits standing out.

‘Amalayer’

If you’ve been to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter or Tumblr lately, then you’ve seen this viral video of a young female passenger of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) shouting at a lady guard.

What stuck with the online community was this passenger’s ‘mean girl’ way of saying “I’m a liar?” which they so easily tagged as “Amalayer” instead.

Immediately, the incident trended on Twitter and generated memes.

While we think this has gained more attention than it should, we’d just like to give out a friendly reminder to the Filipino online community: In whatever you do on social media, be aware that what you say and do may hurt someone.
