MANILA, Philippines – Just how many faces are on Facebook?

Let’s do the math: if we take the existing 1.3-billion Facebook users and add a few countless new users (per minute) then subract the indiscernible amount of people who delete their accounts (per day), how many faces currently exist on Facebook per second?

Luckily for us, we don’t have to crunch the numbers in order to find out! An app called The Faces of Facebook shows us how many Facebook users exist in real time – along with each and every one of their faces!

A project by creative technologist Natalia Rojas, Faces of Facebook lets you browse through millions of photos of family, friends, strangers, and that occasional pet.

The challenge is posted for you to find your own profile picture in the clutter. But, honestly, who has the time? So they’ve also included a “find me” option that connects the app to your account and automatically points out which tiny speck of color is you.

Another neat thing about this app is that since it updates in real time, you can actually see who signed up and joined Facebook right before and right after you did. Now there’s an interesting way to meet people (but proceed with caution as they may be cats in disguise!).

If you look at face number 1- aptly labelled: IT ALL STARTED HERE – you’ll see Mark Zuckerberg himself and, beside him, Facebook co-founders Chris Hughes and Dustin Moskovitz.
