The sun is out but the wind is cold

MANILA, Philippines -– “The sun is out but the wind is cold.”

This is what almost everyone living in the country is saying the past few days.

This is the kind of weather that makes you want a warm bath, before or after sipping on whatever hot drink you fancy. It’s also the reason why some of us have been late for work or school, sneaking in a few more minutes under the blanket and cuddling with your favorite pillow.

Apparently, it’s only about to get colder! State weather bureau PAGASA said the cold temperatures will continue until the first few weeks of February. Metro Manila just had one of its coolest temperatures ever early Sunday, January 26.

For some of us who look good in multiple layers of clothing, we want this weather to last.

In a country that is used to just 2 types of weather – dry and wet – it is understandable to hear complaints about how chilly it’s been lately.

You think it’s already cold? Check out the folks in the US who have been hit by the arctic blast a few weeks ago. It’s so cold in the US state of Kentucky that an escaped inmate begged to be let back in to prison, and a polar bear at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago was brought inside to warm up.

Below is a collection of some peculiar videos that show how brutally freezing it is in other parts of the world:

Egg freezes in just 5 minutes in Minnesota, USA:

A person sticks his tongue in a frozen pole for just 4 seconds. Watch what happens:

Boiling water freezes in mid air:

This guy from Iowa just feels like jumping into his frozen trampoline:

The Niagara Falls is frozen:

Cars frozen solid to the ground in Winnipeg after just 3 days of freezing temperatures. Watch:

Escullar said the temperatures will begin to rise again around the last week of February or the first two weeks of March.

Since we’re already talking about frozen stuff, we thought you might want to listen to the “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” performance from the movie Frozen:
